FAQ

Who is AI UX Navigator for?

AI UX Navigator is designed for UX leaders and practitioners responsible for creating AI-powered experiences.

This includes:

  • UX directors, design managers, senior designers, and researchers adapting UX processes for AI

  • Product managers aligning AI-driven experiences with business goals

  • Cross-functional teams collaborating on AI implementation

While UX is the primary focus, AI UX doesn’t exist in isolation—successful implementation requires collaboration across product, data science, engineering, business strategy and leadership. As our community grows, we will expand our focus to help broader teams navigate AI transformation together.

How is AI UX different from traditional UX?

Traditional UX is deterministic, meaning it follows fixed user flows and predictable outcomes. AI UX, on the other hand, is probabilistic, meaning experiences are dynamic, adaptive, and constantly evolving.

This shift requires:

  • A new mindset – Designing for uncertainty and fluid experiences.

  • New research methods – Studying user interaction with ever-changing AI systems.

  • Flexible design approaches – Creating adaptive and evolving experiences.

  • Different collaboration models - Working cross-function.

To help navigate this transformation, we developed The 4 Shifts Framework, which provides actionable steps to bridge the gap between AI’s capabilities and human-centered UX design.

Do I need technical AI knowledge to use these resources?

No. AI UX Navigator is built for UX professionals who want to design AI-powered experiences without needing deep technical expertise.

While basic AI literacy is helpful, these resources focus on practical UX strategies rather than technical implementation details.
